Hydroxyzine (whose brand names include Vistaril) and Benadryl (the brand name of diphenhydramine) are both first-generation antihistamines and share many similarities, including sedating side effects. Problem is that you cannot take high doses of 1st generation antihistamines (Benadryl, Phenergan, etc....) without getting anticholinergic side-effects.

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. Tagamet, diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and white grapefruit juice are a few potentiators in this case. Soma would work too but that is prescription only. One specific one comes to mind though, Phenibut.
