Well, the truth itself is the way things are, and like you're saying, there isn't so much we can do to further define that. It just is. But there's a second consideration, which is that humans make claims about the way things are.

These claims may be considered as sequences of characters, or noises, or perhaps patterns of mental activity. And we call some of these claims true, and other claims ... Truth is what the singer gives to the listener when she’s brave enough to open up and sing from her heart. But still curious about the difference between both of them.

You need more than truth, you need evidence, and a reason to believe that evidence. Argumentation rarely provides that, which is why philosophy has spawned other fields which are less reliant upon argumentation.
